Your Own No-brainer, Easy As Pie, Very Cool Website

Pbase

If you're an engraver and don't feature your work online, you're missing opportunities. If you're pursuing engraving as a business, then you really must make your work available to those who wish to see it. In this day and time, it's never been easier to have your own online brochure/catalog available 24 hrs a day 365 days a year. In fact, there's no excuse not to.

Having your own domain is the most professional way to go (i.e. www.JohnSmithEngraving.com). Depending on your computer and/or internet savvy, having your own domain may or may not be the fastest and easiest way to get your work online. When you register a domain, you must then build your own site from the ground up, or hire a web designer to do it for you. It's money well spent, as is paying an ad agency to design and print brochures and catalogs. For the beginner or seasoned pro who needs a professional looking site that can be online and ready to go in a couple of hours, Pbase is the answer.

It's cheap. How does $23 US per year sound for your own personal website? Pbase has become THE site for photographers to share their photos with the world. Beautiful online galleries are built automatically. All you do is upload your photos using simple point-and-click. You'll have your own private login so you can maintain and update your site, change and update photos, biographical information, and more. You don't need to know anything about HTML, code, or other things you might not be familiar with. Trust me folks, you can do this. What's amazing is that not only is it easy and inexpensive, the galleries look GOOD! Abigail and I have been using them to host our photo galleries.

Pbase offers a free 30-day trial (they don't ask for a credit card or anything else) to see how you like it. The free trial has limited features, but it's definitely worth checking into if you need a site to host photos of your work. For $23 a year (less than $2 month) you get 400MB of photo storage and unlimited galleries. If your photos are 250k each, that's room for 1600 photos. You can also direct-link to photos so you can post them in forums, etc. Your Pbase account comes with a guestbook, and one of the coolest features is that visitors can post comments below your photos. This feature can be disabled if you wish.

Pbase was developed for photographers, but it's just as useful for anyone who desires a fast, easy, and professional looking site. It's a perfect way to show your work to others and get comments and critique. Give it a try and tell me what you think. If I can talk the folks at Pbase into setting up a sample account for iGraver, I'll write some step-by-step instructions to get you up and running with Pbase in record time.
