flux and boric acid
Flux is a 50/50 mix of borax and boric acid . A crucible should be prepared and kept exclusively for melting 24K gold and nothing else.
crucible The flux mixture is applied evenly in a new crucible which is marked FINE GOLD. It's important to reserve this crucible for melting only 24K gold.
The crucible is heated with a torch and the flux is melted and spread evenly over it's inner surface.
The completed crucible should have glassy look.
