Engraving a Coat of Arms



The stars and moon are cut with a 120° graver and the castle is cut with small flat gravers.
A Design® kneaded rubber eraser is also good for taking impressions.
The lettering is lightly scribed-in and cut using the same graver I cut the helmet detail and inside shield borders with.
Completed shield and helmet. Next comes the mantle (scrollwork). This photo shows the dark, textured finish on the helmet.
