Fine gold anneals at 400°F and draws much easier than work-hardened gold. Use a heat resistant surface for annealing.
Drawplates with carbide inserts are far better than the plain steel variety, and draw smoother and with less friction. They are available at all jewelers supply houses.
The engraver should have several sizes of wire for inlay, as one size doesn't fit all applications.
After final size has been achieved, anneal one last time before inlaying.
